Duterte signs Bayanihan II economic recovery package

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday signed The Recover as One Act or Bayanihan II into law, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
Under Bayanihan II, set aside is a P165.5 billion relief package for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Funding of P140 billion will come from general appropriations, with P25.5 billion as standby when additional funding becomes available. Bayanihan II will be valid until December 19, 2020.
''We consider the Bayanihan II crucial in our efforts to gradually reopen the economy support businesses and revitalize growth as we make our country resilient to COVID-19 by strengthening the health sector, particularly the healthcare capacity and pandemic response,'' said Roque in a statement.
Bayanihan II replaced the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act which expired on June 24. Bayanihan II was approved by Congress on August 24. DMS
