Duterte skips HNP’s campaign caravan
May 9, 2019
President Rodrigo Duterte did not show up in the campaign caravan of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago's backed senatorial candidates in Davao City.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio announced before the crowd at San Pedro Square that her father would no longer attend.
She did not give any reason for Duterte's absence.
Some of the 13 senatorial candidates of HNP, founded and headed by Carpio, are not being supported by the President.
Duterte has been endorsing the candidacies of his party mates at PDP-Laban and some guest candidates.
Among the HNP-backed candidates, who failed to get Duterte's endorsement are former Senators Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr and former veteran broadcast journalist Jiggy Manicad. Celerina Monte/DMS
