Duterte stance on PNP issues a ”good thing”: Albayalde
October 2, 2019
The head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to not make any statement on the issues surrounding the organization is a "good thing".
"Before he left, he did not say anything (to me)... I think that is good because our president acted as a lawyer and he said he will wait for the decision," Police General Oscar Albayalde said in a radio interview.
"He cannot basically depend his decision on the Senate hearing and he will depend his decision on the investigation conducted by Department of Interior and Local Government," he added.
Albayalde said Duterte saluted to him when they met the airport last night.
In his speech last night, Duterte said when he decides on the basis of (DILG Secretary Eduardo) Año's report, "I can dismiss, discharge, terminate any and all of them. So I will wait for it."
"But we will be fair.… you know the PNP is not that bad. By and large, we have a very good PNP working for our country. The scalawags, the ninja cops have been there in Manila, one or two in Davao, and everywhere," he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
