May 29, 2019
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat will lead a meeting with leaders of the Japan travel industry Wednesday at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo as a parallel event to the Philippine Business Mission (PBM) to Japan 2019.
Japanese tourism industry stakeholders and business leaders will be the main audience in the meeting with Duterte and Puyat to aggressively develop tourism between the Philippines and Japan.
Japan is the Philippines’ fourth biggest market, with 177,769 Japanese visiting the country in the first quarter.
In 2018, 631,801 Japanese tourists visited the Philippines, registering an 8.15 percent growth rate.
For the past 10 years, Japan has consistently been among the country's top four tourism markets.
The PBM has been held yearly in Japan for the past 13 years and is organized by DOT and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).
The major travel trade event includes Philippine travel seminars for Japanese agents, business-to-business meetings between Philippine sellers and Japanese buyers and a Philippine Reception to culminate the activities. DMS
