Duterte vows to pursue more road projects

President Rodrigo Duterte vowed on Thursday to continue to pursue road projects as he led the inspection of the P6.55-billion North Luzon Expressway Harbor Link Project.
"Improved mobility is a strong indicator of progress in any society. Let me assure you that this administration will continue to pursue road infrastructure development throughout the country to improve the productive capacity of our economy, create more jobs and higher incomes, and strengthen our investment climate for sustainable growth," Duterte said in a speech in Caloocan City where the inspection of the project was held.
He said the construction of the 2.6-kilometer project, which extends from Circumferential Road 3 in Caloocan to Radial Road 10 in Navotas City, will connect to the 5.65-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 at the Caloocan Interchange to directly connect the Port Area of Manila to the northern province of Luzon via NLEX.
Over 30,000 motorists per day are expected to benefit from the project and this will decongest Metro Manila by providing direct access to NLEX without the need to pass through Edsa or the Balintawak Toll Plaza, he said.
Duterte acknowledged the combined efforts of the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Department of Transportation, and NLEX Corporation for the "timely and efficient completion" of the project.
"As we pursue the objectives of the Build, Build, Build Program, I ask everyone to do their part in our shared task of nation-building," he added. Celerina Monte/DMS
