December 13, 2019

Google on Thursday bared the top searches for Filipinos in 2019.

The search engine capped off this year by posting on its Facebook page the most searched topics, personalities, and dogs in the country.

Omegle - an online chat website - topped the list of the overall trending searches in 2019. People also looked up for Thanos, the villain from Marvel's Avengers. Also included in the list was prominent Filipino actor Eddie Garcia who passed away in June.

Also listed was the Pacquiao-Broner match earlier this year. The "Halalan 2019" also made it to the list as Filipinos voted for their national and local bets in the elections. Unsurprisingly, as a country which, loves basketball, people also searched for the 2019 NBA standings.

Google also posted a list of top searches under ten categories: news, female personalities, male personalities, dogs, events, how to, losses, movies, songs, and lyrics, and television programs.

Aside from the Halalan 2019, top news searches were the LET (Licensure Exam for Teachers) exam results, Bar exam results, Civil Service Commission exam results, earthquakes, and the SOGIE Bill.

Actress and new Darna Jane de Leon, the Barretto sisters, and beauty queens Catriona Gray and Gazini Ganados were the most browsed Filipina personalities.

On the other hand, the Filipino boy band group SB19 was at the top of the male personalities list, followed by mayors Vico Sotto and Isko Moreno.

Filipinos searched for bull dogs more than other dog breeds. More Filipinos also wanted to activate the dark mode for their mobile phones.

Pinoy K-pop and K-drama (Korean pop and Korean drama) fans also read more about the passing of Sulli and Goo Hara. Former Agriculture Secretary Gina Lopez and Chinese Filipino business magnate Henry Sy were also on the list.
