Eleazar relieves cop in QC road rage incident

Police personnel who got involved in a viral road rage video last month was relieved from Quezon City Police District and will be facing charges, according to National Capital Region Police chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar.
Eleazar took action after the victim, identified as alias Robert, personally went to his office on Thursday to report the incident which transpired last July 26 at Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
Eleazar identified one of the persons involved as Police Master Sergeant Wilson Aquino from QCPD's Police Station 3- Tactical Motorized Reaction Unit.
In a video taken by the victim, he was on his way to Quiapo when a white SUV tried to enter his lane but he was not able to give way.
"I might bump the vehicle at the back if I suddenly stop," Robert told Eleazar.
As he drove, another white vehicle cut and stopped in front of him.
Aquino brought his gun out of the window and pointed to the direction of the complainant's car, then went out bringing a shotgun.
He approached Robert and asked for his driver's license while another person, still unidentified, cursed at him.
A male person wearing green Pulis T- shirt from the SUV alighted and pacified the suspect.
"I don't know why they pointed a gun at me when I'm not violating anything," the victim said.
He also said he did not drive for two weeks due to fear of meeting them in the road.
Eleazar told Robert they will support and assist him in filing charges against the suspect.
Around four people were seen in the video who went out of the two cars but according to Eleazar, only Aquino was seen violating their rules.
"CIDU (Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit) will continue investigating to find out of others seen in the video holding a gun are policemen... but Aquino was the only person we saw with violations," he told the victim.
The NCRPO chief relieved Aquino from QCPD and reassigned him to NCRPO Regional Headquarters Support Unit.
Aquino was on leave until August 20 but Eleazar cancelled it and ordered him to report immediately to turnover his issued Philippine National Police (PNP) firearm and badge.
Meanwhile, letter requests were sent to Land Transportation Office (LTO) and to the office of Sergeant at Arms, House of Representatives (HOR) for the identification of registered owner of the vehicles while the video was sent to QCPD Anti-Cybercrime to identify the other suspects.
Aquino will be slapped with administrative case of grave misconduct and a criminal complaint of grave threat. Ella Dionisio/DMS
