Fishing boat with seven Filipinos sinks off Brunei: DFA
August 12, 2019
A fishing vessel carrying seven Filipino crewmen and four others sank off the coast of Brunei on August 7, but only two survivors of unknown nationality rescued, the Department of Foreign Affairs ( DFA) said Monday.
Search and rescue for the remaining crew of Radims 2 ended Sunday, four days after the incident, the DFA said, citing a report from its embassy in Brunei.
"The search and rescue operations were halted as no crew members in the identified search area, other than the two previously rescued, were
found," a DFA statement said.
It did not say if Filipinos were among the survivors.
The last communication between the owner of Radims 2 and its captain was on August 7.
Brunei’s National Search and Rescue Coordination Committee has sought help from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency in locating missing crew members, the DFA said. DMS
