Five inmates escape from Negros Oriental jail

Five detainees escaped Manjuyod District Jail in Negors Oriental early Monday morning.
Chief Master Sergeant Edilberto Euraoba III, spokesman of the Negros Oriental provincial police, said escapees were Janly Callao, 39; Julan Paculanang, 30; Lito Pedro, 49, who are all facing rape charges; Ronnie Flores, 25, charged with illegal possession of firearms; and Joseph Casido who is facing murder charges.
According to initial report, personnel from Manjuyod District Jail reported at Manjuyod Police Station they discovered the wall of Paculanang was destroyed around 5:30 am.
The duty jail guard conducted a head count and found out five prisoners managed to escape.
“The escapees have gained entrance by destroying the detention cell and immediately fled away going to unknown direction,” Euraoba said.
Authorities are conducting investigation and follow-up operation to arrest the escapees. Ella Dionisio/DMS
