Five killed as tricycle, car collide in Batangas: police

Five people, including a member of the Philippine Navy and a Sangguniang Kabataan councilor, died while 12 were injured in a vehicular accident in San Juan, Batangas Friday morning, police said.
According to a spot report by the San Juan municipal police, at 3 am in Barangay Laiya-Aplaya where a tricycle with eight passengers was heading towards Barangay Hugom when it collided with a Honda Civic.
Police said the Honda Civic occupied the opposite lane which led it to collide with the tricycle.
Four passengers of the tricycle identified as Reynald Gamil, John Eric Gamil, Kim Zaigan Gamil and Borito Santos died. The fatality among the group in the Honda Civic was John Kelly Villanueva, a member of the Philippine Navy.
The tricycle driver, Levy Gamil, and passengers Maximo Gamil, Vergilio Gamil, Benilda Gamil and Kim Zaigan sustained injuries and were brought to a hospital.
