Former cop arrested in Muntinlupa buy bust

A former police officer was arrested in a buy bust operation in Muntinlupa City Thursday afternoon.

Major General Guillermo Eleazar, National Capitol Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, identified the suspect as Victor Bustamante Jr, a former patrolman, 37, and residing at Barangay Poblacion, Camp Sampaguita in National Bilibid Prison (NBP) Reservation, Muntinlupa City.

Bustamante was arrested by joint elements from NCRPO, Philippine National Police- Integrated Monitoring and Enforcement Group , Muntinlupa City Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  in an anti-illegal drug operation around 2:45 pm of in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa City.

Eleazar said an undercover agent managed to buy five grams of suspected shabu in two plastic sachets with street value of P 68,000 in exchange for P10,000 marked money from the suspect.

Confiscated were two empty magazines of Glock 9mm pistol, one PNP ID of the suspect, one black Samsung Duos cellphone and one sling bag.

Bustamante was recruited as Police Officer 1 by PNP NCRPO last 2011 and was re-assigned to Southern Police District but went absent without leave s starting February 2019. 

"He was monitored to be engaged in the illegal drug trade, hence a buy bust operation was conducted to arrest him," said Eleazar.

"He is not, in anyway, connected with the Philippine National Police.  For sure his apprehension will reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs in the different areas of this city," he added 

Bustamante will be facing criminal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  Ella Dionisio/DMS
