February 6, 2020

The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Thursday named the former head of its anti-drug campaign as the new top cop of Central Visayas.

In a statement,  PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa named Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, erstwhile Deputy Regional Director for Operations of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) as the regional director of Police Region 7.

Ferro headed the PNP anti-drugs group from 2016 to 2o17.

Gamboa said Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon will be reassigned under the Office of the Chief PNP.

Also reassigned to the Office of the Chief PNP were Police Colonel Emma Libunao, Bulacan provincial director and Police Colonel Gil Francis Tria, deputy director for operations of Highway Patrol Group.

“Gamboa reminded all regional directors of the PNP’s hard line stance against all forms of illegal gambling activities and other crimes against public morals in their areas of jurisdiction,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, in a statement.

Banac said the latest relief and reassignment of police officials to key posts is based on evaluation of factors such as performance, campaign against illegal drugs, campaign against illegal gambling, campaign against rogue cops, and failure to adhere to command policies. Ella Dionisio/DMS
