Four alleged members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were killed while 13, including soldiers, were wounded during a military operation in Maguindanao on Wednesday morning.
Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, said as part of their focused military operation, soldiers attacked suspected hideouts of the bandit group at the vicinity of Brgy. Pamalian, Datu Unsay, Maguindanao.
“We started with the indirect fire and then air strike, then ground assault,” he said.
Sobejana said the operation initially resulted to the killing of three BIFF members, including a certain Ali Abdul Malik, brother of Abu Toraype who is a leader of a BIFF faction. Eleven were wounded.
He said another clash happened in the afternoon of the same day after the Bungos faction, with almost 100 members, resulted in the killing of another BIFF member.
Sobejana added that during the operation two soldiers were wounded because of an improvised bomb explosion.
He said the military also recovered materiel, including improvised explosive devices. Robina Asido/DMS
