Four alleged NPAs arrested in Negros Occidental

Government troops apprehended four alleged members of New People's Army (NPA) in Negros Occidental on Friday.

Maj. Cenon Pancito III, public affairs chief of the 3rd Infantry Division, said the alleged rebels were apprehended during a joint law enforcement operation at the vicinity of Sitio Mamposo, Brgy Magballo, Kabankalan City.

"The apprehension was a product of a joint intelligence operation following the July 8 encounter between government troops and the CTGs ( communist terrorist group) in barangay Pinggot, Ilog," he said.

Pancito said arrested were  Emmylo Cañares alias Sid/Drey, 38, the secretary of the Second National Urban Center Party Committee (2NUCPC); George Buga-ay alias Samantha/Alexa, 42,regional communication (RCOM) staff of Kilusan Rehiyon Negros; Relyn Moreno alias Sam, 22 years old, regional communication staff of KR-N; and, Raffy Patajo alias Paolo, 21 years old,  a regional communication staff of KR-N," he added.

Pancito said troops recovered  one caliber .45 pistol; one .38 caliber revolver loaded with five ammunition ; four hand grenades; cash amounting to P24,000; assorted cell phones and chargers; assorted USB’s; subversive documents and personal belongings.

He said Col. Noel Baluyan, commander of the 302nd Infantry (Achiever) Brigade lauded the composite elements of the government forces for apprehending the rebels who will face appropriate charges in court.

“Certainly, the arrest of these high ranking CNT(communist terrorist) personalities will cause a big blow on the terrorism and exploitation activities of the CNT and their organization in Negros Island,” Baluyan said. Robina Asido/DMS
