Four Chinese nationals arrested for threatening compatriot: PNP

Four Chinese nationals were arrested for threatening another Chinese tourist in Paranaque City last Sunday, a police official reported on Tuesday.
Police Lt. Col. Elmer Cereno, Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group ( PNP-AKG) public information officer identified the suspects as Zhao Liang, 31, Liu Tao, 34, both residents of Tianjin province, Li Lin, 28, from Liaoning and Jin Ning, 29, from Hunan.
Cereno said the suspects were arrested for threatening the victim identified as Li Xin, who arrived in the Philippines on July 24 from China to work for an online gaming company in Makati City.
Based on initial report the victim went to a resort with his friend on August 24.
Cereno said after the victim lost his money playing baccarat the suspects approached him and offered P200, 000.00 with an interest of 20 percent for every winning bet.
The suspects reportedly threatened the victim they will bring him outside the establishment after he failed to pay P140,000 he lost from playing baccarat.
“Li Xin panicked and cried upon sensing that he will be brought outside,'' he added.
Cereno said the victim “returned the remaining P60, 000 of the money he borrowed from them and created commotion.”
“The casino security officers approached them and brought them inside the security office. The victim told that he was threatened by the suspects to be brought him outside,” he said.
Cereno said the suspects were arrested at around 7:35 am of August 25 after the PNP-AKG received a call the casino security officer about the alleged kidnapping of Li Xin.
He said the arrest was made at the security office of the casino, after victim averred he was threatened by the suspects.
Cereno said the authorities will be filing appropriate charges against the suspects. Robina Asido/DMS
