Four Manila cops were arrested for extortion in an entrapment operation by the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) on Wednesday.
Arrested were Police Corporal Nickson Mina; Police Corporal Juan Carlo Guzman; Police Corporal Fransis Mikko Gagarin; and Patrolman Tom Hikilan.
They were assigned at Manila Police District- Police Station 5.
In a police report, it was disclosed the cops were arrested after allegedly receiving P200, 000 during an operation at Baseco Police Community Precinct around 6:36 pm.
The operation stemmed after a complainant reported to IMEG office that the four police demanded P500, 000 from her in exchange for the release of her husband who was arrested last November 12 for illegal drugs violation.
They later lowered the demand to P200, 000.
Confiscated from the four cops were their PNP identification cards and issued firearms.
Arrested cops will be charged for extortion and grave misconduct for admin case which carries a penalty of dismissal in the police service.
They are now under the IMEG custody. Ella Dionisio/DMS
