Government troops recover firearms in Tawi-tawi operation

Government troops recovered high-powered firearms in a joint operation in Tawi-tawi last Saturday, a military official said Tuesday.
Capt Felix Serapio, public affairs director of the Philippine Marines, said troops of Marine Battalion Landing Team-6, 64th Marine Company of Force Reconnaissance Group and MIG (Military Intelligence Group) 26, ISAFP (Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines) conducted the operation at the vicinity of Sitio Tumubong, Brgy Marang Marang, Languyan, Tawi-Tawi.
Serapio said government forces recovered three M1 Garand rifle, one M16 rifle, one cal. 45 pistol, one shotgun, rifle magazines, rifle and shotgun ammunition and other paraphernalia during the operation.
“The Philippine Marine Corps will implement its mandate of protecting the Filipino people against these lawless terrorist groups,” he said.
“In doing so, Marines will continue to assist concerned government entities on law enforcement operations for the sustainable growth and development of our maritime nation,” he added. Robina Asido/DMS
