Gov’t troops arrest two alleged NPA rebels

Government troops arrested two alleged New People's Army ( NPA) rebels in Masbate province on Monday night, a military official said Wednesday.
Maj. Ricky Anthony Naguilar, public affairs officer of the 9th Infantry Division, said arrested were Alex Goyala alias Nonoy and Leo Briol alias Leon.
Naguilar said, based on initial report, the two were onboard a motorcycle when they were flagged down by the joint elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Uson Municipal Police Station in Uson town around 6 pm.
“Seized from them were two caliber .45 pistols, magazine with service ammunition and one hand grenade,” he said.
Naguilar said “the suspects are now under the custody of Uson-MPS for further investigations while cases for violating RA 10591 or illegal posession of firearms and RA 9516 or illegal possession of explosives are now being prepared against them.”
“Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under Major. Gen. Fernando Trinidad once again assured the Bicolanos of a more intensified operations against the communist terrorist groups to stop them from spreading violence in the communities,” he said. Robina Asido/DMS
