Gov’t troops nab illegal drug suspect in Maguindanao

Government troops nabbed an illegal drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Maguindanao on Friday morning.

Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. said  Jahir M. Guipal, alias  Johny Long, was apprehended by the 40th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Buluan Municipal Police Station  at SPDA Compound, Barangay Poblacion, Buluan at around 5:30 am.

“The operation also resulted in the confiscation of a black pouch containing nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets weighing more or less 20 grams and containing white crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), P 1000 buy-bust money with serial  EP 681816, one bundle of P1,000 bills amounting to P14,000, one brown leatherette wallet containing several identification cards, and two analog cellular phones,” Vinluan said.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the Joint Task Force Central said Guipal is one of the high-value targets in the PDEA’s list.

“He is also a barangay kagawad in the municipality of Mangudadatu,” he said.

Uy said the JTF Central is committed to supporting all legal mechanisms to end the prevalence of illegal drugs in the unit’s area of operation.

Following the arrest, Guipal and the recovered items are placed in the custody of PDEA-BARMM for documentation and proper disposition.

Vinluan said the Western Mindanao Command "will attune all our efforts in upholding our unwavering support to the campaign of the President against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country."

“Rest assured that we will continuously cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in the efforts against all forms of lawlessness to curb violence in the western and central areas of Mindanao,” he added. Robina Asido/DMS
