Gunmen attack Bombo Radyo station in Gensan
July 4, 2019
Unidentified suspects on Wednesday evening fired at a radio station in General Santos City.
A police officer from Bula Police Station who requested anonymity for lack of authority to speak said the incident transpired around 8:30 pm at the regional station of Bombo Radyo located at Amao Road, Barangay Bula.
Initial report said the unidentified suspects arrived on board a pick-up truck and fired at the station.
No one was hurt during the incident but the bullet hit the main glass door of the station.
“The investigator is now gathering evidence, looking for CCTVs in the area,” the police officer said.
The suspects immediately left the area after the security guard of the place shot at them.
The radio station in a statement condemned the act and vowed that no amount of harassment can silence them as the Bombo Radyo Gensan is “the lone voice in the wilderness consistently warning the unwitting public on the perils of a Ponzi scheme type of investment”
The station said the incident transpired while there was an ongoing discussion about Kapa-Community Ministry International and its leader Joel Apolinario.
“BomboRadyo Philippines condemns in the strongest possible terms the strafing by still unidentified armed men onboard a pickup truck that stopped in front of the façade of BomboRadyo General Santos,” it said.
Police are still investigating the incident to identify the suspects and their motive. Ella Dionisio/DMS
