House of Councillors delegation makes official visit to Philippines

A delegation from the House of Councillors delegation headed by its President Honorable Chuichi Date made an official visit to the Philippines to promote inter-parliamentary exchanges upon the invitation of Senate President Vicente Sotto Ⅲ from January 8 to 10, the Embassy of Japan said Thursday.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang Palace on January 8. They discussed further strengthening of Philippines-Japan bilateral relations, including cooperation on the Mindanao peace process as well as disaster prevention and disaster risk reduction.
On January 9, the delegation had a meeting with Senator Aquilino Pimentel Ⅲ and Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon. The delegation also attended the luncheon hosted by them.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen the inter-parliamentary exchanges between the Philippines and Japan.
After that, the delegation exchanged views with members of the Japanese business community on their successes and the challenges they face in doing business in the country.
Then, the delegation graced the dinner hosted by House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and talked about the wide-ranging issues related with Japan-Philippines relationship with participating Filipino congressmen. DMS
