Ignacio quits as deputy OWWA administrator
February 26, 2019
Deputy Administrator Arnel Ignacio has resigned at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), said Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
In a phone interview, Bello bared that Ignacio submitted his resignation letter two weeks ago at the labor department's main office in Manila.
“It will be up to the President if he will accept it or not,” said Bello, adding Ignacio’s resignation was not “irrevocable”.
“I already forwarded it to Malacañang,” he said.
Bello said Ignacio's reason for leaving was “personal reasons”.
“I initially told him I won’t accept it. But he was insistent on resigning,” said Bello.
Ignacio, a TV host and comedian, was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte in January 2018. DMS
