Ilocos Norte still free of African Swine Fever
March 17, 2020
BAGUIO CITY– Ilocos Norte is one of the few northern Luzon which has remained free of the African Swine Fever (ASF).
Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao and four other provinces are still spared from ASF, said Ilocos Norte provincial veterinarian Loida Valenzuela.
The Bureau of Animal Industry said Cagayan, Kalinga, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, and Isabela in northern Luzon have been hit by the ASF.
''(we) have been imposing temporary restrictions on the entry of live hogs, frozen hog semen, and pork products from ASF-hit provinces,'' she said.
“I am happy to say that we are still ASF-free and we are patronizing our own products. That is important,'' added Valenzuela. DMS
