Interior secretary unfazed by being in communist ”kill list”

December 5, 2019

Interior Secretary Eduardo Año is unfazed over the alleged “kill list” of the communist rebels.

In a statement, Año said he is not “intimidated by such evil plot”.

“We are prepared for that. We will get them before they can execute their plan. We’ll keep this country safe against these Godless communist terrorists (or) bandits,” he said.

In a press briefing last Wednesday, Major General Antonio Parlade Jr said Año, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) chairperson Allen Capuyan, five former communist leaders, and even him are included in the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) assassination plot.

All personalities are involved in President Rodrigo Duterte’s counter-insurgency program.

Parlade said based on intelligence reports, the CPP made adjustment in their hit list after the creation of National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict as they are greatly affected by the program.

“The decision was made last night (Tuesday) during a meeting by their central committee,” he said.

Duterte is not included on CPP’s list.

In an interview with reporters, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson said this threat to security is not new especially the CPP is set to celebrate its founding anniversary.

Banac said there is ongoing validation on these reports.

“But we remain alert and vigilant on any criminal activities that their members will create and there is nothing to worry because all those who follow the law are on the side of the law while those who violate will face the law,” he said.

“Together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in providing security, we will not allow violence to rule our country,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
