Tokyo--Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on Wednesday agreed to continue their close communication toward Chinese President Xi Jinping's planned state visit to Japan.
In a 40-minute telephone conversation held at the request of China, the two ministers shared a target of achieving positive results through Xi's trip expected for early April.
Wang explained the current situation of his country's coronavirus crisis and measures taken to contain the disease.
Motegi said he hopes China will manage to calm down the situation as early as possible.
He again expressed his appreciation for China's cooperation in Japanese operations to fly back nationals from Hubei Province, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. Jiji Press
