Japanese-Filipina suspected of extortion arrested in Laguna

A Japanese-Filipina was arrested in Laguna for allegedly extorting and threatening her victims with posting their nude photos online if they don't give her money.


Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Suriben , chief of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit ( RACU)- 4A  said suspect "is Japanese by birth but living in Laguna for a long time." 

Brig. General Edward Carranza, the Calabarzon regional police director, and Police Brig. General Dennis Agustin, the Anti-Cybercrime Group head,
lauded the successful operation.

The operation against the suspect stemmed after a victim sought police assistance.

A social media investigation was made using the information provided by the victim.

On September 26, joint operatives from RACU 4A, 402nd Manuever Co, Regional Mobile Force Batallion (RMFB) 4A  and the  Calauan Police Station conducted an entrapment operation around 4:30 pm which resulted in her  arrest.

The victim said the suspect demanded P2,500 so she will not the nude photo of her mother who is a government employee.

Suriben said the suspect operates on her own but '' believed to have victimized a number of persons as per interview from the remittance center."

"Her modus is to befriend netizens then she will threaten them with social shaming or posting of nude photos if they would not agree to send money," Suriben said.

Suriben said the suspect is about to return to Japan next month.

The suspect, who was brought to police headquarters, will face a case of grave coercion and robbery extortion.  Ella Dionisio/DMS
