July 24, 2019
A female Japanese employee has accused her Japanese employer of sexually harassing her in exchange of promoting her in her work, police said on Wednesday.
The 42-year old Japanese went to the Makati City Police on Tuesday to report the alleged harassment against her by her 56-year old Japanese boss, Makati Police chief investigator, Police Major Gideon Ines told The Daily Manila Shimbun.
“(The) suspect has been sexually harassing her at work by saying lewd remarks, coercing her to hold his sensitive part and come with him to a hotel with a promise of promotion,” he said.
According to Makati CPS-Women and Children Protection Desks (WCPD), the victim was a customer service employee in the company owned by the suspect.
The victim reportedly said that the sexual harassment incidents started in May 2014 until May this year after she was told to come to a hotel with him in exchange of promotion.
It was not clear why the Japanese employee only reported the incidents recently.
The suspect could face charges for violation of Republic Act 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. Ella Dionisio/DMS
