Tokyo--Japanese Prince Akishino and his wife, Princess Kiko, are considering making an official visit to Poland and Finland from late June to early July, the Imperial Household Agency said Wednesday.
The possible trip follows invitations from the governments of both countries, as this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties with Japan.
It would be Prince Akishino's first official overseas trip after becoming Crown Prince in line with the enthronement of Crown Prince Naruhito on May 1.
It would also be the couple's first trip to the two countries. Their itinerary is expected to include courtesy visits to the respective presidents.
Meanwhile, Princess Mako, the eldest daughter of the couple, is considering officially visiting Peru and Bolivia for around 10 days in mid-July.
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the start of immigration by Japanese people to both countries. The agency is considering a plan for Princess Mako to pay courtesy visits to the presidents of the two countries and meet with people of Japanese descent. Jiji Press
