JMSDF Escort Flotilla One arriving for goodwill visit Sunday

Three destroyer ships of Escort Flotilla One under the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), including its largest craft, are set to arrive for a four-day goodwill visit Sunday
Capt. Jonathan Zata, Philippine Navy spokesman, said the arriving vessels include JS Murasame (DD-101), JS Akebono (DD-108) and aircraft carrier JS Izumo (DD-183), the largest destroyer of the JMSDF.
Zata said the vessels are expected to arrive at Alava Wharf of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in Olongapo City around 10 am.
He said a welcome ceremony and a press conference will be held at the port during the arrival of the JMSDF.
Zata said the personnel and vessels of the JMSDF will stay in the country until July 3.
The visit of Escort Flotilla One is the third visit of JMSDF vessels in the country this year as the first one was made by JS Ikazuchi (DD-107) in Manila on January followed by JS Samidare (DD-106) in Subic Bay on May. Robina Asido/DMS
