President Rodrigo Duterte has declared June 5 as a holiday to mark Eid'l Fitr or Feast of Ramadhan.
Proclamation No 729 signed on May 28, a copy of which was only released to the public on Wednesday, said Eid'l Fitr is celebrated by the Muslim world for three days after the end of the month of fasting.
"The entire nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr," the proclamation read.
The June 5 holiday was recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos. Celerina Monte/DMS
