Six Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit members were wounded as a land mine planted by alleged New People’s Army (NPA) in the province of Bukidnon on Saturday morning. Captain Joe Patrick Martinez, spokesman of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, said troops were conducting routine combat patrol operation in the vicinity of Mount Kitanglad when a land mine exploded in Brgy Laportuna Impasug-ong, Bukidnon around 7:30 am. The wounded militiamen were initially rushed to Malaybalay City Hospital and will be transferred to Camp Evangelista Station Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City for further treatement. Martinez saidgovernment forces were also fired upon by less than 20 armed men. “Our militiamen and soldiers were able to return fire which causes the rebels to withdraw to unknown direction,” he added.
