Latest SWS survey shows war vs drugs is making ”positive results and success”: PNP
October 31, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Thursday said the latest Social Weather Station ( SWS) survey showed their campaign against crime and illegal drugs is achieving “positive results and success”.
“The steady decline in crime victimization over the last three years validates our data and general observations of lesser crime and lesser fear of crime indicating that our campaign against crime and illegal drugs is achieving positive results and success,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, in a statement.
Banac said this is the same public confidence, as indicated in the recent SWS survey showing 82 percent satisfaction rating.
One factor to considered is accurate crime reporting because more victims are now coming forward to report crime.
“This allows us to get a better and more realistic picture of the crime environment,” he said.
Based on latest SWS survey, there are lesser families who reported themselves as victim of common crimes within the past six months.
They found 5.6 percent or estimated 1.4 million families being victimized.
In an earlier radio interview, Banac said this survey is encouraging the PNP that they are on the right track in achieving a drug-free country by 2020.
“This is a proof that our campaign against crimes and illegal drugs is successful,” he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
