Lorenzana denies US visa has been revoked
January 23, 2020
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana denied rumors Thursday that his US visa was cancelled.
"Not true. Fake news," Lorenzana told Daily Manila Shimbun in a Viber message.
"I haven't been informed by the US Embassy that my diplomatic visa was canceled," he added.
Lorenzana made the confirmation after Senator Imee Marcos reportedly said about hearing "rumors" that US visas of Lorenzana and other government officials were revoked.
Just last Wednesday, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa confirmed the cancellation of his US visa.
According to Dela Rosa the US Embassy did not explain why his visa was canceled but the former Philippine National Police chief expressed belief it might have something to do with extrajudicial killing allegations. Robina Asido/DMS
