Lorenzana says Misuari can be big help to address kidnappings in southern Philippines
December 18, 2019
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari can be a big help to address kidnapping in southern Philippines.
"The area of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Indanan is also the area of the MNLF, so Misuari can be a big help to defeat the kidnap for ransom ( incidents)," Lorenzana told reporters in Camp Aguinaldo on Tuesday night.
Last week, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Misuari as the special economic envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Following his appointment, Misuari is expected to attend the annual meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states in Burkina Faso next month.
It can be recalled that the MNLF members under Misuari have agreed to be reintegrated to the society after the government forged a policy to create the Bangsamoro region. Robina Asido
