LTFRB orders Grab, Uber to remove colorum drivers before July 26
July 14, 2017
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ordered transport network companies (TNC) Grab and Uber to remove colorum drivers from their ranks or they will be apprehended starting July 26. LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada said LTFRB will fine P120,000 and impound vehicles for three months for transport network vehicle services (TNVS) which violating the rules. There will be "no extension" for the implementation of the order. The TNVS is allowed to contest the apprehension, Lizada said. Lizada said "The (LTFRB) will be releasing tomorrow to both TNCs a copy of the order dated July 11, 2017 which was promulgated on the same day. We will be posting the same order in this group for your information". Grab and Uber were fined P5 million in the show cause hearing on Tuesday after admitting to non-compliance of the rules and regulations as they continue accepting new drivers despite an order by the LTFRB. "Their accreditation was never suspended and can still operate. It is not enough to be candid. One must be accountable, hence the fine", LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III said through a viber message from Lizada. Delgra said "there is no amnesty". There were 18 colorum vehicles apprehended from Grab and 12 from Uber from January to April 2017, Lizada said Tuesday. Alanna Ambi/DMS
