Magnitude 5.9 quake hits Catanduanes

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck the province of Catanduanes on Saturday.
In its report, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at 69 km northwest of Pandan, Catanduanes around 2:19 pm.
It noted that the earthquake, which is tectonic in origin, has a depth of 46 km.
There is no damage expected but the agency noted that that there are expected aftershocks from the tremor.
The report also noted Intensity III was monitored over Guinayangan in Quezon and Sorsogon City in Sorsogon. Intensity II was also recorded in Lucban, Quezon. Robina Asido/DMS
