Amid the reported cases of African Swine Fever in the country, a 21-years old construction worker was arrested on Friday for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a female pig in Pangasinan.

In a report, Pangasinan Provincial Police said the suspect, a resident of Bolaoen, Sual, Pangasinan, was nabbed following a complaint by another resident in the same barangay.

According to the complainant, the suspect made a sexual intercourse to the eight-month old female pig at the pig pen located in his backyard.

The female pig will be used by the owner for breeding piglets and to be sold for additional income.

The suspect would be charged for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act and grave scandal.

Just recently the Department of Agricuture confirmed cases of African Swine Fever in the country.

According to the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), the ASF does not pose a threat to human health but humans can become a virus carrier once the infected pork was ingested or if the people get close to the contaminated meat. Robina Asido/DMS
