Manila Water monitoring La Mesa water level
March 18, 2019
Manila Water said in a press briefing on Monday they are monitoring the La Mesa Dam which could possibly reach the critical water level of 65 meters.
Manila Water president Ferdinand Dela Cruz said they are preparing measures if La Mesa's water level reaches 65 meters since it will affect the Rodriguez water treatment plant.
The plant provides water to areas in Rizal, including Rodriguez, San Mateo and Montalban.
"We are watching closely because that plant produces 80 to 100 million liters per day. We will have to prepare for contingency," Dela Cruz said.
As of Monday morning, data from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed La Mesa Dam's water level continues declining.
From the normal water level of 80.15 meters, the dam is now 68.66 meters.
Angat Dam's water level is now at 198.29 meters from its normal 212 meters. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
