According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), alert level 2 is observed over Mayon Volcano, indicating a moderate level of unrest. In Phivolcs' 8 am advisory, the phreatic eruptions were recorded at 8:17 am and 8:28 am. Phivolcs said "sudden explosions, lava collapses, pyroclastic density currents or PDCs and ashfall" can happen and affect areas located in the upper to middle slopes of Mayon. Phivolcs also warned that people are not allowed to enter the six kilometer-radius permanent danger zone and the 7 kilometer-radius extended danger zone in the south-southwest to east-northeast sector from Anoling, Camalig to Sta. Misericordia, Sto. Domingo Civil aviation authorities advised people to avoid flying near Mayon's summit due to hazardous airborne ash and ballistic fragments brought by possible sudden explosions and PDCs.
