Measles case continue rising: DOH

Measles cases continue increasing, with over 16,000 incidents while deaths are near 300 two months after the Department of Health (DOH) declared outbreaks in several regions.
Data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed there are 16,349 measles cases reported from January 1 to March 2.
The figure is almost 13,000 higher than the 3,374 cases during the same period last year.
The number of deaths has reached 261 as of March 2, surpassing 33 deaths during the same period in 2018.
Regions with the highest number of cases are Calabarzon (3,877) followed by National Capital Region (3,617) and Central Luzon (2,331).
Of the cases, 30 percent or 4,911 patients came from the 1-4 years old age bracket.
Males also had more cases with 8,592 or 53 percent.
Sixty-one percent of the measles cases or 9,975 were found to have no measles vaccination. DMS
