Media needs special pass to travel within quarantine areas after 72 hours: PNP
March 17, 2020
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said media personnel and media workers will be allowed safe passage and use of vehicles within the next 72 hours pending the issuance of special media pass from the Malacanang.
“PNP units and personnel manning quarantine control points in strategic locations will allow safe passage and travel of vehicles ferrying media personnel, technical and production staff, within community quarantine areas pending issuance of the special media pass by the PCOO (Presidential Communications Operations Office) within the next 72 hours,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, in a statement.
“For the meantime, media personnel and workers will just be checked for their company IDs and media credentials in quarantine control points subject to biohazard safety protocols imposed by DOH,” he added.
Banac however said entry into community quarantine areas will be prohibited to media members beyond midnight of March 20, 2020 without PCOO special media pass.
Acquiring special media pass is a requirement set by the government for media who wants to cover or go around the quarantine areas following the implementation of enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon island by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday. Ella Dionisio/DMS
