Media practitioner arrested for alleged illegal possession of firearms

A media practitioner was arrested in Palawan Thursday afternoon due to alleged illegal possession of firearms.
According to Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) spokesman Police Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, the suspect identified as Jennifer Maquilan, 29, of Private Media Manila Hotline Journalist, was nabbed at 2:30 PM in Coron Port, Barangay Tagumpay, Coron.
Faltado said Maquilan was onboard the MV June Aster cargo ship when authorities discovered one unit of unlicensed caliber .22 Beretta with magazine loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.
The police discovered the said firearm when her bag passed through the x-ray machine in Coron port.
The suspect and confiscated items were sent under the custody of Coron Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
