The Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2, and Philippine National Railways resumed operations after a temporary suspension of services late Monday due to 6.1 magnitude quake that jolted Metro Manila and parts of Luzon.
In an advisory by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), LRT 1 and 2, MRT-3, and PNR were declared safe to resume operations.
"With structural and track inspections completed for LRT 1, LRT 2, MRT-3 and PNR, all lines were found fit for operations," DOTr said.
LRT 1 announced on its social media page as of 5:30 am, train operations are fully operational for northbound and southbound routes.
"As of 4:38 (am) tracks inspection completed and confirmed safe. Catenary inspection completed and confirmed safe. Buildings and facilities completed and confirmed safe," a post read.
LRT Administrator General Rey Berroya gave clearance to resume LRT 2 operations.
"As of April 23, 2019 at 5:30 am, 7 trains/28 coaches running with 7 minutes headway. Light to moderate volume of passengers on both westbound and eastbound directions," LRT-2 posted in a social media page.
MRT-3 also announced the availability of its services few hours after the quake Monday.
"After thorough assessment conducted by MRT-3 ADB consultants together with MTT, MRT-3 shall resume its mainline operations tomorrow, 23 April 2019," MRT-3's statement read.
The engineering department of PNR certified the train's line passable for continuation of operations. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
