BAGUIO CITY -- The Philippine military reiterated Wednesday they are maintaining regular patrols within the country's northern maritime borders.
Northern Luzon Command commander Lt. General Emmanuel Salamat said following their coordination with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, they said there are no reports of Filipino fishermen being subjected to harassment by Chinese ships.
There were no sightings of dredging ships in the waters of the West Philippine Sea, added Salamat.
“We have regular Navy and Coast Guard maritime patrols in the northern maritime borders covered by our area of responsibility to ensure freedom of navigation in the Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC)” Salamat said.
Salamat assured that the Northern Luzon Command remains committed “to doing its mandate of protecting the people and securing the sovereign territory within its area of responsibility that includes the country's vast northern maritime areas.” DMS
