Military sends team to help Surigao del Sur quake victims

The military sent a team to assist victims of 5.5 magnitude earthquake that hit the province of Surigao del Sur last Saturday.
Lt. Jonald Romorosa, civil military operations officer of the 36th Infantry Battalion, said following the tremor Lt. Col. Xerxes Trinidad, commander of 36th IB organized a Disaster Response Team.
"As a partner in addressing peace and security in the province, it is also our mandate to serve and protect the people in any calamities and natural disaster. We will find ways to help and rescue the peace-loving Surigaonons," Trinidad said.
Trinidad stressed to the victims to be resilient at all times and reach out to the government and security forces in times of need.
"Your Army will always be at your service anytime. We will be deploying our troops to any point in the province," he said.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), based on the data validated by the Department of Health the number of injuries reached 46.
Estimates on damage to agriculture and infrastructure have not been released by the NDRRMC. Robina Asido/DMS
