More than a dozen homes damaged as typhoon nears Babuyan Group of Islands

More than a dozen houses were damaged because of Typhoon Ramon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council ( NDRRMC) reported on Tuesday.
A total of 16 houses were damaged in the Bicol Region, of which seven were destroyed while nine were partially damaged.
As of 10 a.m., state weather forecasters said Ramon was 120 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, moving nearly stationary and packing maximum winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 165 kph. It is expected to make landfall Tuesday near the Babuyan Group of Islands.
A total of 848 families or 3,479 individuals from 46 barangay in Cagayan Valley and Bicol regions were affected by Ramon.
Among the affected population, 290 families or 1,059 persons took temporary shelter in 20 evacuation centers.
According to NDRRMC a total of 19 roads and six bridges in Cagayan Valley, Bicol and Cordillera Administrative Region were disrupted by the typhoon, of which four road sections and three bridges are not passable. Robina Asido/DMS
