Most Filipinos aware of Duterte’s previous SONAs: Pulse Asia

Most Filipinos are aware of President Rodrigo Duterte's previous State of the Nation Address (SONA), a Pulse Asia survey said Friday. 

In a survey conducted days before Duterte's fourth SONA, 75 percent of Filipinos said they are aware of Duterte's past addresses.  

The highest number of respondents aware of Duterte's SONA came from Mindanao with 86 percent. It is followed by National Capital Region (NCR) with 81, Visayas with 78, and Luzon with 67, Pulse Asia said. 

Most respondents or about 85 percent from class ABC showed awareness of the SONAs. Around 82 percent in class E and 73 percent in class D. 

Pulse Asia said the issues Filipinos would like to speak about in his SONA on Monday are wage increase, 17.1 percent; reduction in prices of basic goods, 17.1 percent; and more jobs and livelihood opportunities, 15.2 percent. 

There were  9.2 percent of Filipinos who believe issues in related to the relations between Philippines and China should be tackled.

From those, 6.1 percent added that Philippines should assert sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea and 3.1 percent said Duterte should explain the country's policy in relation to China. 

At least  7.8  percent said the war against illegal drugs should be mentioned; and 5.9 percent wants to hear about improvements in agricultural sector. 

Most respondents from Metro Manila said they want the SONA to discuss Philippine-Chinese relations (20.2 percent), employment (18.3 percent), wage (16.6 percent), and basic goods prices (10.7 percent).

People in Luzon were interested in wages (21.7 percent), inflation (18.4 percent), and job creation (17.6 percent). 

Visayans would like to hear about inflation (16.8 percent), jobs (14.9 percent), illegal drugs (13 percent), wage (11.3 percent), and Philippine-China relations (9.6 percent).

Residents from Mindanao said they want Duterte to talk about inflation (18.5 percent), agriculture (14.4 percent), wage (13 percent), employment (8.9 percent), and illegal drugs (8.3 percent). 

Among income classes, those in class ABC answered Philippine-China relations (21.3 percent. For class D, people said they want to hear about wage (18.8 percent), inflation (16.4 percent), employment (15.2 percent), and Philippines and China's relationship (9.7 percent). 

Those in class E mostly answered lower prices of basic goods (20.8 percent), job opportunities (16.5 percent(, illegal drugs (10.3 percent), and wage increase (9.3 percent). DMS
