MWSS orders Maynilad to reply to allegations of ”milk tea” colored water
July 17, 2019
The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) directed Maynilad Water Services Inc., to compensate customers due to complains of discolored water.
In an interview over dzBB, MWSS Chief Regulator Patrick Ty said they sent a letter to Maynilad ordering them to compensate affected customers. Ty said Maynilad has 15 days to respond.
"I explained to them (Maynilad) that they need to fix the situation," Ty said.
"Maynilad explained that they need to flush the pipes to remove the 'milk tea' colored water," he said.
"The reason why the water is dirty is because of the water interruption," Ty added.
Ty said although the issue is not stated in the concession agreement, it is "in the Civil Code." Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
