Navy intercepts P10.8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes off Zamboanga del Sur

Government forces confiscated P10.8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes loaded in a fishing boat intercepted off the waters of Zamboanga del Sur.
The Naval Forces Western Mindanao personnel onboard BRP Jose Loor Sr were conducting maritime patrol when it intercepted Normay, a fishing boat loaded with smuggled cigarettes at vicinity of seawaters off Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur last Friday.
According to the NFWM, the boat was loaded with 307 cases and 94 reams of assorted smuggled cigarettes with a market value worth P10,810,800,00
The vessel was enroute to Pagadian City from Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu when it was intercepted by the Philippine Navy.
"The fishing boat was then escorted to Pagadian City pier along with its seven crew members and on the following day upon arrival to Pagadian City pier, the smuggled cigarettes onboard FB Normay were unloaded and were properly turned-over to the Bureau of Customs Region 9 (BOC R9) for proper disposition," NFWM stated.
