February 7, 2020
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said they are preparing if the Department of Health seeks their help in locating plane passengers who were with the Chinese couple found positive of the 2019 novel coronavirus.
Police Major General Debold Sinas, acting NCRPO director, said they are conducting lectures for their personnel in compliance with the order of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa.
“We are considered as local units. We just re-assist where we are tapped. Nonetheless, as per guidance of chief PNP we should be prepared,” Sinas said.
“We have conducted series of lectures for our personnel particularly first responders. In case, they know what to do and what personal protective equipment they should use when they respond to coronavirus (patients),” he added.
According to Sinas, two teams per districts were assigned and are ready to respond 24/7.
The Philippine National Police assigned the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) as the lead team in helping the DOH in tracing the passengers on the flights of the Chinese victims infected by the virus last January. Ella Dionisio/DMS
